This project was an imaginary redesign for the University of Kentucky’s arts center. When designing a logo like this, I try to keep in mind how the logo will look not only on its own and in simple applications (like a business card), but also combined with advertising and promotional photos.
I chose a simple “S” design that I could wrap around the page. Here it is on its own.
I always like a little tension in my designs—it keeps things interesting—so I picked a rigid, industrial typeface to pair with the swirly, organic logo.
I also designed some applications for ads.
